Streets of Delhi, always fascinating us with its treasures. Be it the Purani Dilli street food, or just the array of eateries in the heart of Delhi, Delhi does a pretty awesome job with leaving a mark. While discovering the capital, we came across a beautiful urban village in South Delhi named Shahpur Jat. Once a village, now a home to many beautiful cafes and boutiques, Shahpur Jat is a treat for all art lovers. The quaint little cafes does a good job promoting the café culture. Here you can grab a book and sit for hours over coffee and good finger food. Here is a list of must visit cafes in Shahpur Jat to rejuvenate your soul:

HEARKEN CAFÉ

Amidst the lanes of Shahpur Jat, lies a beautiful café ran by beautiful people. Hearken café is a café ran by special people. The café functions on sign language and it is quite interesting how well the servers pull it off. With soothing ambiance and a beautiful rooftop, hearken stands out of other cafes in Shahpur Jat. One might just want to spend an evening there with their lot and savour their food, they have a pretty interesting and an elaborate menu. From simple Potato & Cheese Croquets to Chicken Crepes, the food speaks for itself. We started our meals with Chicken Quesadillas served alongside yogurt pepper crème which turned out to be very promising. The thin crust pizzas are something which you would not like to miss. One might want to get lost in a book while sipping on their Peanut Butter Shake made to perfection.

THE POTBELLY ROOFTOP CAFÉ

Known for serving authentic Bihari cuisine in Delhi, The Potbelly Rooftop café will melt your heart with their homely wooden furniture, yellow brick wall counter and rustic interiors. Everything from their drinks to the main course will leave you wanting for more. One wouldn’t even mind climbing three floors to reach this heaven. Our meals commenced with their Meat Pakora Basket and we couldn’t wait to eat more. A Bihari meal is not complete without having their iconic dish, Litti Chokha and at potbelly, the litti chokha is a must try. The delectable taste of Litti Chokha will linger long after resulting in a great mouthfeel. Do not forget to try their Pineapple shortcake served with vanilla ice cream. One might want to accompany it with their masala chai.

 

IVY AND BEAN CAFE

Ivy and Bean café is one of a kind of place in Delhi. Soft music, pretty interiors with loads of books would be the best way to describe this café. It offers diners a gamut of options and each one of them is well made with quality. The breakfast here is much talked about, they have a variety of eggs and pancakes. The red velvet pancakes and the tiramisu pancakes are for sure not to be missed. Not only the breakfast, they have an elaborate menu all day dining menu as well. A book lover would rejoice their time here along reading along Mocha Hazelnut coffee.

GREENR STORE & CAFE

Nestled in the lanes of Shahpur Jat, Greenr café is a blessing for anyone who would want to work outside the confined office space. A co-working space where you can spend hours with vegan and healthy food is what greenr café is. GreenR offers a whole range of dishes to choose from and each dish is full of good nutritious ingredients. They have teamed up with blue tokai for serving the perfect shot of espresso. While offering healthy food options, they are not compromising on the taste and they have the popular dishes made healthy way too. Opt for their homemade crackers with dips when you want to munch while working.

THE MAD TEAPOT/ THE WISHING CHAIR

One of the first cafes to open in the area, the wishing chair is a lifestyle store selling beautiful handcrafted things to make your home look beautiful. They have a little café named the Mad teapot cuddled in the store. Having a limited menu, mostly comprising of pasta and salads, the place will leave you mesmerized with its beauty. It is a treat for your eyes as well as taste buds. Do not forget to ask your server about the cupcake of the day, you are the lucky one if it turns out to be a chocolate.
